A MESSAGE FROM OUR MINISTER

Perhaps you are wondering, "Why should I choose to attend First Christian Church in Adairsville?" Let me make several suggestions.

First Christian Church is a historical church in the heart of Adairsville’s historical section. Though our present building is just a few years old, we moved to the present site in the early nineteen hundreds. The building that was used at that time until recently (more than 100 years), is still on sight and being lovingly cared for by people who have fond memories of the part that lovely little building on the hill played in their lives and spiritual development. While we are a historical church that appreciates our past, we are determined to be an effective twenty first century church. We are learning to take advantage of twenty-first century technology. For example, when you attend First Christian on a Sunday morning, you will notice we use a video projection system and software to enhance our worship and preaching. Even as we embrace a primarily traditional approach to worship (perhaps a bit blended with the use of newer choruses, etc), we are always looking for ways we can use new approaches and ideas to make worship and service more effective.

First Christian is a church committed to delivering the truth of God’s Word to our community through a ministry of love. It is our desire that when one visits our church, he/ she will come away convinced, “This is a place where I can hear the Bible clearly presented and applied to everyday living, a place where ‘The Word’ is given primary consideration.” But we also feel it is extremely important that after having contact with us, people will feel, "Wow! Those people really care about me.” We endeavor to be a truly caring community of believers where people can get the help they need for everyday living. To say that we have “arrived” as a loving body of believers might be a little dishonest, but to say we are constantly growing in our ability to love people would certainly be true. We are a people devoted to the truth of God’s Word convinced that the Word is best embraced in an environment of love for people.

First Christian Church is a church devoted to ministering to every member of your family. It is our position that an effective church in today’s world must give a great deal of attention to children and young people. With several dedicated professional teachers including one who has written children’s curriculum extensively for several Christian publishing houses, we are presently giving much thought and planning to our ministry to children. In the days ahead you can expect some new and innovative approaches to children’s ministry. While we want to reach all age groups, our present target group is young families who have children or young people still at home.

First Christian Church is a church served by a ministerial couple who have long loved First Christian Church and the community of Adairsville. Wanda and I grew up in Adairsville. I was baptized as a teenager in the old building. It was in the youth group of this very church that we got to know each other and started dating as teens. It was at First Christian Church that we were challenged to go to Bible College and it was here that I was ordained into the ministry. It was at First Christian that Wanda and I were married. Going forth from first Christian we have had the opportunity to minister to churches large and small in several states seeing more than 1000 people baptized into the Lord. We are convinced the Lord is now ready to use the experience he has given us over the years to lead in building a strong church in the very place where it all started for us.

There are other reasons I could give for attending First Christian, but I need to leave a few things for you to discover on your own. Why not give us a try this coming Lord’s Day?
